HERE WOULD BE MY CONTRIBUTION TO  MARDI GRAS
Adults only may view and bring beads!!!!

PURPLE, GREEN, AND GOLD ARE THE OFFICIAL COLORS OF MARDI GRAS.  The first Mardi Gras was celebrated in 1703 in Ft. Louis de la Mobile.  First Mardi Gras "Carnival" appeared in 1781 and was celebrated by private social clubs by having society balls.  These private, restricted membership, societies became the model for the clubs of today, like Rex, Bacchus, and the Twelfth Night Revelers.  The Twelfth Night Revelers started "throws" of trinkets, toys, doubloons, and such in 1870.  The floats are privately funded by these clubs thereby becoming "The Greatest Free Show On Earth".

This is my vintage 1940's Mardi Gras Headress.  I also have the Wizard of Oz, King and Queen of the Mardi Gras costumes from the 1960's.  They are big and awesome.  They are stored or I would put a couple of pics on for show.

HOPE YOU HAD FUN WITH THIS.  I KNOW I DID!!!

                     HAND FANS THAT INSPIRE ME

Here are the fans that I incorporate into my mixed media reliquary. These fans are made of paper, wood, or cloth. I like to add the colorful ones for framing around my images. At least five of them are pre-1930.

I used the fan blades to frame this collage.

This fan is hanging on my studio wall

This fan with the birds is hand painted on linen cloth.

It's a beautiful day in my neighborhood here in my city...Ft.Worth, Texas.  I'm still rockin to the great blues I heard last nite in downtown.  Today I am going to post some more pictures of things that inspire me to create. Hope you have a wonderful day wherever you are.

                Buttons and Beading
I love the hand painted buttons but don't know what I will do with the beading.  The beaded accessories were practically free so I couldn't pass them up.  Not really my thing.  Guess I will just throw them into the mix at my shows.
